Fun? Well, not the deadline aspect, but I so very glad for the opportunity.
To be honest, I wasn't thrilled (at all) about moving into Hell's Kitchen NYC (the community between the Hudson River and Times Square) in 1988. But marry I did and there I was. I remember the excitement of finding a community garden just a few blocks west and, would you believe? A woman named Mallory on her knees laying bricks in a path said that if I came to help, well l could get a garden.
Published in 2005 after 15 years of urban gardening experience, this book was written for people who think gardening is difficult. It's really not!
That was it. I was hooked. The next day, I was at the 5th Avenue Library looking up how to get started on gardening. That 's is why I wrote Garden Your City.
Here's practical "how-to" basics and can-do ideas on where you can plant! Gardening opportunities are everywhere.
Long story short, the book (I wanted a paperback (less $); they did a hardcover) was published in May 2005. It wasn't until a most historic November 4, 2008 (President Obama) for the USA and myself, that all of the rights were reverted to me from the publisher and sweet Ernie, from UPS, unloaded the remaining inventory into the garage,
